Plans to demolish Homebase in Streatham Vale to build flats

A Homebase in Streatham Vale is set to be demolished and replaced with 272 flats and commercial space if a planning application is approved.

Developer Hadley Property Group and Clarion Housing Group have partnered to redevelop the site in Streatham Vale - they announced they purchased it last September.

According to their pre-application development presentation, going before a Lambeth planning committee on Tuesday (June 29), the scheme would be made up of four blocks ranging between five and 13 storeys.

No decision will be made on the plans tomorrow – the meeting is an opportunity for the applicants to make a presentation and discuss any issues.

The plans include more than 500 cycle spaces within a dedicated ‘cycle hub’, which would be on the ground and first floor of one of the blocks.

A small café and cycle workshop is also proposed.

Play space is also proposed onsite for children between 0 and 11 years, and offsite for children between 12 and 18.

Hadley and Clarion, who have joined forces to deliver mixed-use developments in urban areas, are hoping to submit their full planning application by late July.

According to Hadley: “As well as providing new high-quality homes that contribute to the need for housing in the local area, we will be creating a friendly street character.

“We're also exploring the possibility of opening up the front of site and creating new outdoor communal spaces with green landscaping for all to enjoy.”
