After a challenging year, Your Bromley, the Business Improvement District for Bromley town centre, is delighted to bring its school gardening competition, Bromley Floral Fest, to the town centre in 2021 for the fourth year.
This year’s event will see 30 primary schools from the Borough of Bromley take part, bringing colour and cheer to the High Street after a difficult year.
On Thursday, June 24, wooden planters that have been designed, decorated and planted up by the schools will be displayed on Bromley High Street outside H&M, before the judging takes place on Saturday, June 26.
The judging panel will include Garden Rescue’s Charlie Dimmock, Gary Carvosso MD of Coolings Garden Centre and Zoe Griffiths, Business Engagement Lead at Your Bromley.
Each school has been asked to create an entry that celebrates their school community.
Whether this reflects how the school has stayed in touch in lockdown, or celebrated being back together, the displays will be designed to demonstrate how the schools’ communities have shone.
The judges will select winners in four different categories:
- Most Creative
- Best Use of Theme
- Best Use of Colour
- Best Horticultural Display
The display will then remain on the High Street for a further week until Friday, July 2, giving visitors to the town plenty of opportunity to admire the colour and creativity and to choose their People’s Choice winner.
The public vote will take place online at www.yourbromley.com/floralfest from Thursday, June 24 until Saturday, July 3.
Charlie Dimmock commented: “I can’t wait to see the displays the schools around Bromley create. It has been such a difficult time for pupils and teachers, and it will be lovely to see how they have come together to get creative with their entries.
"I think it is fantastic that children get involved in gardening and growing and what a brilliant idea. I am looking forward to being involved in the judging and I hope that all the children taking part have enjoyed the project.”
Frances Forrest, BID manager, added: “We are delighted to bring back the Floral Fest for 2021. We hope it will really lift the spirits of Bromley residents, workers and visitors and we can’t wait to see the entries arrive in the town centre.”
