Police granted stop and search powers in Mitcham

Police have issued a Section 60 following a "rise in community tensions" in Mitcham. 

Merton MPS took to Twitter to confirm that the powers have been issued due to tensions within the community. 

Wimbledon Times contacted Met Police to request further details, but no more information has been given at this time. 

Powers were authorised from 1pm today, and will take place until 6am on Tuesday ( May 4).
