An occasional East London fairground pictured 90 years ago

The view above is of Old Church Road at the junction of Hall Lane in Chingford c1930.

The waste ground was occasionally used for fairs.

This came to an end by the mid-1930s when Albert Crescent was constructed and the ground was laid out as a green with public conveniences.

Many of the houses were also converted into shops.
