Above is a newly-discovered version of a c1905 photo of the Bull & Crown on Chingford Green showing the placement of George Bartrip's coal merchants weatherboarded cottage on the left.
George Bartrip was also first parish clerk who served Chingford for over 40 years. He had carrier carts that departed to London and surrounding villages twice weekly.
George was also a rate collector. In 1892 he was an assistant overseer and an agent for the Great Eastern Railway.
The site was demolished in the 1920s to make way for the Catholic church of Our Lady of Grace and St Teresa you see today.
