A man who reportedly "threatened to jump" from a bridge at Mitcham Eastefields Station earlier today (Tuesday, April 20) has been helped down by emergency service personnel.
The incident unfolded on Tuesday evening with reports of a man on top of the footbridge at the station bringing a large emergency services presence to the area.
Responding to a query from the Wimbledon Times around 6.43pm, a spokesperson for the Met Police said the incident had "finished" and added:
"The man has come down and will now be passed to medical professionals for an assessment".
Trainlines and operators meanwhile reported significant delays through the station, with journeys between Streatham and Sutton impacted in particular.
⚠️#Sutton - Southern services that are due to run via Mitcham will be diverted via West Croydon, this will add up to 20 minutes to your journey.
