Welling Police said a stop and search in Hook Road, south east London, at around 8pm on Sunday, April 4, led them to arresting the male for drug offences.
He then assaulted on of the arresting police officers before he was detained. Police added that they discovered he was also wanted for being wanted in court in Nottingham.
In an update, the Met Police said he had been charged with the possession of drugs, assault on an emergency worker and failing to appear in a Nottingham court.
The male, from the Yardley area of Birmingham, had been remanded into custody to appear before a London magistrates court.
Welling Police had been tweeting activity throughout the Easter weekend, with a number of successful stop and searches.
